New Year, New Clutter

So, we’re now in to Month 2 of 2015 and how are your New Year’s Resolutions coming along?

I’m making a renewed effort to clear more clutter from my home and in this post, I’ll be looking briefly at some of the items I’ve selected over the past month.

Screw You Clutter

It’s almost time for me to share a recent walk across the Quantocks but before I get to that, I need to share my latest battle in the fight against clutter.

New Clutter

While it may’ve been my birthday eight-days ago, that Monday was also the day in which I decided to clear out and close the door on my first workshop for the final time. A previous weekend had seen the majority of my tools and kit tucked away in to self storage. But I’d left myself with a floor-covering off odds-and-sodds to gather or give-away. Somehow, prolonging the inevitable and procrastinating would make it feel like I wasn’t having to let go just yet…

Welcome home…

Because of such of undesirable habits, I found myself with nowhere else to dump these items in such short notice and so, here they are, on the carpet of the one-bedroom flat within which I reside.

Making a Car Boot Box

Some of you might remember seen the ‘rustic’ wooden box I made back in July. I think it’s an item that was showcased on the social networks more so than right here on this blog but I’m writing now to let you know that a video of the process is now available to watch on YouTube.

It was a simple project and I’m pleased with how well it’s been received in the past week. What’s more, my subscriber total has now passed 1,500 and is fast on its way to 1,600! There has always been a temptation to create common ‘how-to‘ videos and projects that anyone can make but what I enjoy doing is to show you how I’ve made something; to show you how I operate within my own workshop and, if I can, to tell a bit of a story along the way – because these are the things I enjoy most in other people’s videos. I mean, I could make an end-grain cutting board with my eyes closed!! 😉

Thank you, everyone!! 🙂

Even though I scrapped the van for which this was built before Christmas, this is a box that has a home in the boot of my estate car.

Thank you for reading and for watching. Please subscribe to my channel, if you haven’t done so already.

On a day where I’d usually be out roaming the countryside, I’ve instead decided to take some time out to continue to furnish my new home with the help of Freecycle. Severe flooding has hit Bristol and North Somerset in recent days and with rain continuing to fall as I type this, I’m actually quite glad to be indoors today.

Recycling (for Ramblers)

Here we are in 2014. With spring only a few months away, some people might be turning their attention to the annual tradition of spring cleaning… But does anyone ever actually do it? At this time or even at all?

I imagine it’s like a friend of mine said recently, with regards to people who set a date for beginning their diet… That date soon passes and they haven’t even begun to alter their daily food intake. How many of us set New Year’s resolutions that we fail to follow through with?

Setting dates for doing things we don’t particularly want to do is, in my opinion, another form of procrastination.

But moving house has prompted me to look at what I’m living with and to gradually put the non-essential items to one side. Within my first week in this flat, I came up with a box-full of recyclable items that I can live without. You can see those in the photo above.
