Good Friday Coastal Walk (Part 1)

Good Friday – 25th March 2016

While I cannot speak for the whole of the UK; down here in the south-west, we were fortunate to have one beautiful day of weather on Good Friday, whilst the rest of the long weekend was spoilt with storms of high wind and heavy rain.

This was an opportunity I took for an extensive coastal walk. For the first time since July, I would join the South West Coast Path in Dorset.

Dovedale and Wolfscote Dale (Part 1)

Sunday 13th September 2015

It’s already been a fortnight since I left North Somerset for a weekend up in the Peak District. I’m not sure exactly where the time has gone but I’m keen and due to write about the most significant walk from the weekend away.

This is a walk that begins in an area known as Dovedale, heads north up towards Wolfscote Hill and then back down through the Dales to finish. If you’re interested in the exact route, please click here.

My First Night on Exmoor

Friday 19th June 2015

I arrived at Westermill Farm at about 17.30. It had taken me almost two-hours to get there from home and but for a series of cleaning tasks and last-minute packing, I’d have like to have been there a little earlier, following a half-day at work. In fear of what the southbound traffic could be like on a sunny Friday afternoon, I took the A38 south as far as Bridgwater (J23), by which time I could glance over the railings to see the M5 was running quite smoothly.

It was then that I joined the motorway as far as Junction 25, before following A-roads and B-roads past the Brendon Hills and in to the heart of Exmoor.
