Blagdon Walk – December 2016

Each time I entertain the thought of doing a walk that includes the village of Blagdon and its lake, I find myself tracing out a mostly familiar route and often starting from the same car park as before.

While the car park/start point would remain unchanged, on this occasion, I decided to venture a little further from the known paths.

Blagdon Lake

Saturday’s walk, my first of the month, was inspired by a regular feature within the latest edition of North Somerset Life magazine, which was left on my doormat only two-days in advance.

Their walks are usually of a more ‘accessible’ length and rating. But that doesn’t mean I have to follow the guide to the T – so, true to my nature; I decided to change the start point, alter the main focus of the route and then to extend it by a number of miles unknown before I would return to my car!

Birthday Ramble

I did say at the start of this year that I’d be making more of an effort to update this blog with more ‘generalised’ content from my life in order to fill the voids where I’m unable to spend much time in the workshop. Today presents to the perfect opportunity to tell you about a walk I’ve been on with friends. Not only has this been Easter Sunday but it’s also been a day of celebration for my 28th birthday!

I think that I’ll spend some time this evening simply writing about the walk and the day itself. Presents, gifts and cards can come in another post tomorrow, or else this post could easily end up twice its length!
