Air Frying in a Halogen Oven

Here on my blog, I receive a reasonable number of hits on a regular basis, regarding a few specific search engine terms that include ‘halogen oven’.

One of these involves air-frying – or, more specifically; the optional air-frying attachment that can be purchased for most 12lt ovens.

With this in mind, I recorded a video several weeks ago and, on Monday evening, I go around to completing the editing process and uploading my brief introduction to the use of an air-frying attachment in my halogen oven.

I do hope this video is of use to others and, if that is the case, I will look to record further footage on the use of the halogen oven.

Thanks for reading and for watching.

Carrot Cake Success!

This was my first baking effort of 2015 and, in case that’s not enough of a feat on its own; it also happens to have become the best cake that I have so far produced in almost one year of Halogen Oven trial-and-error!

Ready, steady, bake!

You’ll have to go to BBC Good Food if you’d like to see the recipe.

Return of the Halogen

It’s now been two-weeks since I left my faulty halogen oven, ready to be collected and returned to Andrew James. My concern began to grow earlier this week, as I’d expected and hoped to hear from them. I dropped an e-mail in to their inbox on Wednesday night and then, before I could even check my e-mails twenty-four hours later; I received a text message at 9am on Thursday morning from a courier, stating that my anonymous parcel was on its way…

Cooking with Lentils

My final meal to grace the halogen oven before it was returned for repair was a dish that involved a tin of bean-sized objects known as lentils.

I’m sure I’ve had pea and lentil soup before (and liked it) but I’m still unable to explain or understand what, exactly, lentils are or might be.

Halogen Oven Update

There’s one recent meal I’m going to write about tomorrow evening but tonight, there’s some rather sad news regarding my halogen oven that I’m going to have to inform you about…

DSCN9591

It’s currently on its way back to the manufacturer awaiting either a repair or replacement after inspection.

Air Frying (with a Halogen Oven)

Over the weekend, I received a air-fryer attachment that quite simply allows me to fry foods in my Andrew James 12lt Halogen Oven and in manner that’s considerably more healthy than allow something to sizzle in a pan of boiling grime.

Chocolate Raisin Cake

Two of my favourite ingredients baked within the same oven! This was the same cake I baked during an unofficial ‘Cake Day‘ with a friend back in October – see, I want to say ‘last month‘ but already, it seems December has crept upon us. My first attempt wasn’t without a little disappointment but that fuelled me with the necessary preparation for this effort.

If you’re interested in baking this one for yourself then you’ll find the recipe that I used by clicking right here.

Halogen Oven Bulb Changing

I’ll have some more food-related features in the coming days but this evening, I’ve decided to share a walkthrough on how to replace the bulb inside a halogen oven, as there’s a good chance it may help someone else.

In all fairness, the manual for mine (Andrew James 12lt Premium) wasn’t too bad and in case you’re wondering; I believe I bought this back in March, around the time of my birthday and the original bulb has only just ‘blown’ this past weekend, meaning it’s lasted almost 7 months after fair usage (assuming it was new to start with).
