Blue Anchor to Porlock Weir (Part 2)

Sunday 29th May 2016

We spent a good hour lazing in the sun at the summit of North Hill. That zig-zagging climb in the 21°C temperature had certainly taken it out of us.

It was time to decide… Would we take the ‘rugged alternate‘ path from here or, lose sight of the sea in favour of a presumed-easier walk along higher ground but still, following the South West Coast Path?

Blue Anchor to Porlock Weir (Part 1)

Sunday 29th May 2016

We approached this walk with a slight feeling of sadness, as it will be the penultimate walk in our challenge to walk the Somerset Coast Path in its entirety.

Setting off from one of the many free parking bays beside the seafront of Blue Anchor, we were destined for a finish at Porlock Weir.

Lilstock to Blue Anchor (Part 2)

Saturday 14th May 2016

From the edge of the holiday park where we had stopped for lunch, there was but a short distance before we would reach the village of Doniford.

Soon after that, we’d be returning to a walk that lies directly beside the sea.

Lilstock to Blue Anchor (Part 1)

Saturday 14th May 2016

Having left the horror of Hinkley Point behind us, we were set to continue further along the England Coast Path, moving ever closer to the western end of the South West Coast Path.

Combwich to Lilstock (Part 1)

Thursday 28th April 2016

On a rare day off from work, where else would I rather be but out walking in the countryside?!

There were two things that made this walk extra special… First; it would be a continuation of the coastal walk that began last summer. Second; I would get to share it with a friend, who also happened to be free on this day.

This is Part 1 of our latest instalment, following the Somerset Coast Path.

Dunball to Steart (Somerset Coast Path)

Sunday 24th April 2016

It felt great that we were able to resume our trek along the Somerset Coast Path, only a fortnight after our previous instalment and first of 2016.

Already dreading the slog south in to Bridgwater, we began this where I previous walk had finished, at the Admiral’s Table in Dunball, right alongside the A38.

Burnham to Dunball – Coastal Walk

Saturday 2nd April 2016

Had we postponed this walk by twenty-four hours, it would’ve been precisely six-months since our last coastal walk; once again, following the unofficial Somerset Coast Path.

Our last walk ended at Apex Park, to the south of Burnham-on-Sea. We would resume from there, attempting a moderate distance (less than ten-miles) to ease our way back in to it.
