Five Valleys Walk 2015

Sunday 27th September 2015

For each of the previous two years, I’ve taken part in the twenty-mile Circuit of Bath walk on the last Sunday in September. This year though, I decided to take upon myself a new challenge a little further north in the Cotswolds.

Meningitis Now are behind the Five Valleys Walk and I arrived in Stonehouse near Stroud at 8.45am, ready to go.

Notgrove Long Barrow

Just a brief one for today as I have, erm, not an awful lot to do on this dismal Bank Holiday Monday morning!

Following on from the end of my recent walk in the Cotswolds; I’d spotted a previously-unknown long barrow with the English Heritage symbol next to it. This was only a few miles to the east and so, at the end of my walk, I took a twenty-minute drive out of my way towards Stow-on-the-Wold, in the hopes of visiting Notgrove Long Barrow.

A Cotswold Challenge

It must now be a fortnight since I last returned to the Cotswolds. In a month’s time, I’ll be heading that way again for a long-distance walking challenge. But on this occasion, I was looking to correct and finalise the sixteen-mile route I’d plotted back in June.
