Choosing a Backpacking Tent

We’re almost at the end of February and time is running out for me to make this month’s purchase, in preparation for backpacking the Ridgeway long-distance footpath.

In January, I upgraded to a pair of walking poles. Now, I’m looking for my nightly shelter. A one-person tent that’s lightweight, packs away well and is something I would be comfortable to sleep and cook within.

Franchis Holidays – July 2016

This is the final instalment in my ongoing write-up of everything I did in Cornwall, almost two-months ago. Posts about August’s visit to Shropshire will begin soon.

To Shropshire

I’m officially heading to Shropshire in a couple of weeks, for my second camping trip/British adventure of the summer.

My pitch has been booked at the camp site and, in this post, I’m going to list a few of the items I hope to achieve there.

Back From Cornwall

At around 19.00 last night, I completed the long journey back from my four-day weekend in Cornwall.

St. Michael’s Mount, Marazion.

Weather-wise, it was glorious and it appears as though this ‘heatwave’ has also spread throughout Somerset. I managed to get a lot done and it was a good experience. There’s a lot to write about that will come your way in good time.

Camping Plans for 2016

A brand-new year is already two-weeks underway! Over the Christmas break, I took a few minutes to jot down a couple of short lists – one for potential walks; the other for ideal camping destinations.

In this post, I’ll be proposing a selection of places I could choose to visit, here in 2016.

Dorset 2015 Preview

Having just returned from a fresh weekend in Dorset, I’m excited by the prospect of all I have to write about and share.

But as I don’t currently have the time to do it right now (not to mention the incredible number of photos be sifted through), I’ll leave you with a visual preview in this post. There are also a couple of other topics I need to complete before I can begin to write about Dorset.

Westermill Farm

As mentioned in my previous post; Westermill Farm was the campsite I chosen to stay at during the Perambulation Weekend down in Exmoor, Somerset. It was also the weekend of the summer solstice and, in anticipation of the fact that many others might be looking to get-away for the occasion, I asked about the necessity of booking in advance of my arrival… To which I was told the same as when I enquired around August last year; that booking wasn’t essential and that I could simply turn up, pay my fees and camp (provided that I didn’t arrive in the middle of the night).
